CEO of Louis Dreyfus Africa

After a brief stint in Wealth Management and Investment Banking, Jan's professional career took him into the adventurous world of agri-commodity merchants. He joined Louis Dreyfus Company in 2010 as a graduate trainee in Geneva, learning the basics of execution, research & trading in a 169y old merchant house. In 2014 he moved to New Delhi as Commercial Head, and after that to Beijing as General Manager of the Oilseeds division. During 3 years in China, Jan led acquisitions of processing assets as well as joint ventures with local players. In 2018 he became regional CEO for Africa and oversees Louis Dreyfus' business portfolio on the continent based out of Johannesburg. Apart from his personal interest in emerging markets, sustainability and the food system, an exciting part of his role is to help broadening LDC's activities into integrated value chains, new proteins and food innovation. Jan has a BA in Business Administration from University of Sankt Gallen (Switzerland) and a Msc in Social Psychology from London School of Economics (UK). Jan is German and is married with one child.
