Michael is an entrepreneur and venture investor with a background in agriculture, environmental sustainability, social impact and law.
Michael has over 25 years in food and agriculture, venture capital, environmental sustainability, carbon markets, social impact and law. A seasoned investor and agriculture operator, he has been interviewed by numerous leading media publications including Bloomberg, The Economist, Financial Times, The Australian Financial Review, Asian Investor, DealStreetAsia and Agri Investor. He is a regular speaker on the Agrifood Tech conference circuit and in 2021 was selected as one of the Meaningful Business 100, an award recognizing global business leaders combining profit and purpose to help achieve the UN Global Goals for Sustainable Development. Prior to starting AgFunder, Michael was a founding partner of SeedRock Capital Partners and founder and CEO of SeedRock Africa Agriculture, a social impact investment agribusiness based in West Africa. As a lawyer, Michael advised numerous large investment and operating entities on their multi-sector acquisition and development activities. He has substantial experience of large-scale environmental and sustainability projects as well as acquisitions incorporating complex environmental, development and structuring issues. Michael holds an LL.B and an LL.M degree in International Environmental Law from the University of Sydney.
