Varaha is an end-to-end carbon project developer focused on nature based solutions such as regenerative agriculture, agroforestry, mangrove and biochar projects that support smallholder land stewards at scale. In our second year of operation we are removing and avoiding more than 1 Million tons of CO2 and distributing the majority of the revenues to more than 100,000 smallholder land stewards in South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. Our in-house best in class MRV technology includes a bio-geo-chemical model for soil carbon, remote sensing and machine learning and uses soil samples for calibration. Job Description

Business Development & Sales

*Identify and engage large industrial energy consumers who can use waste heat, syngas, or renewable electricity produced via biomass gasification/pyrolysis.

*Build a robust sales pipeline for biochar, aligned with its various use cases: soil application, metallurgy, construction, carbon credit buyers.

*Structure and close commercial agreements (e.g., offtake, PPA, heat supply contracts) with B2B clients.

*Drive lead generation and marketing campaigns in collaboration with communications and product teams.

Partnerships & Market Development

Develop strategic partnerships with:

1. Industrial clusters seeking to decarbonize thermal or electrical energy usage.

2. EPC/OEM players and infrastructure firms interested in embedded energy solutions.

3. Sustainability-focused businesses with net-zero mandates.

*Map and prioritize high-potential customer segments and industrial zones (e.g., textile hubs, chemical parks, SEZs, etc.)

Product & Commercial Strategy

*Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to tailor plant output (e.g., heat pressure levels, electricity delivery formats) based on customer requirements.

*Build pricing models, ROI calculators, and deal structures aligned with customer energy demand profiles.

*Stay updated on biochar market trends (domestic and international) and carbon market dynamics.

Customer Relationship Management

*Act as the key account lead for major clients; manage end-to-end relationships from onboarding to post-sales.

*Ensure customer satisfaction, usage optimization, and re-engagement to deepen client footprint.

*Gather customer feedback to inform product development and future plant design.

Qualifications

*Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Energy, Environmental Sciences, or Business; MBA preferred.

*7+ years of experience in B2B business development, industrial energy sales, or renewable energy commercialization.

*Proven track record of closing complex deals in green energy, industrial sales, or carbon tech sectors.

*Understanding of biochar, biomass gasification, or distributed energy systems is highly desirable.

*Familiarity with power/heat sales contracts, PPA structuring, and open access policies is a strong plus.

*Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
